Wanderlust

Once a year, go somewhere you’ve never been before.
— Dalai Lama

Traveling is something that I have been very lucky to do on numerous occasions throughout my life. I have been to some amazing places around the world, but my appetite for travel has yet to be fulfilled.

Being that I work full time, it can be difficult to get the time off that I need to do the type of traveling that I really want to do. Not to mention that travel can be expensive at times. Because of this, I have been on a trend of doing long weekend trips to places within the United States. This way, I am fulfilling my want to travel, all while not killing my bank account. So far this year I have been to San Francisco, Portland Maine, and Chicago! (all of the pictures for this post are from my most recent trip to Chicago)

With planned trips, comes the need for the perfect travel outfit! Whenever I am going to be traveling, especially by plane, I have some go-to outfit essentials that make getting ready to hit the road that much easier. First things first, I am always cold! Since this is the case, you will always see me in a sweater, or a long sleeve shirt, no matter the time of year. In addition, I make sure to bring a jacket, in case the sweater does not provide the warmth that I need. Next up is a nice pair of leggings, that don't necessarily look like leggings. One of my favorite pairs are my ponte leggings from J Crew. They are made of a thicker material, and have more structure/support to them. This way, it doesn't look like I am walking around in my workout clothes!

Lastly, the essential pieces to any good travel outfit are the accessories. I always make sure to wear a pair of shoes that are both comfortable and easy to take on and off. Nobody wants to be "that" person who is holding up the entire security line because you are trying to get your shoes back onto your feet! You will also pretty much always see me wearing a some sort of hat when traveling as well. There are a many reasons for why I do this, but the main reason I wear one when doing the physical act of traveling is because I don't want to ruin my hat getting ruined in my luggage.

So there you have it...my ideal outfit to travel in. Do you have a go-to outfit for when you're traveling? Any fun weekend trips that I should add to my itinerary? Let me know in the comments below!! And, as always, shop this look and similar pieces below!
