Slip Into It

First of all….Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

If you’re like me, then you are probably feeling overwhelmed with all of the Black Friday sales this year. Last I checked, Black Friday was only one day, but this year it seems as though Black Friday started two weeks ago. Like I said….overwhelming!

Here are some of the random thoughts going through my head:

  • If the Black Friday sales started early, does that mean that deals that are out now are the same as they will be on Friday? Or, will there be even better sales on actual Black Friday? I don’t know about you all, but I’ll be pissed if I buy something today, and it is then cheaper two days from now.

  • Where do I even start? There are so many sales and deal and emails coming at me, I don’t even know where to begin.

  • Do I even need these things, or am I just enticed by the deal?

I decided that for this year, instead of driving myself crazy over this, I am going to have a plan of attack. There are specific things that I know I want/need, so I’ve got a list of all of them ready to go. I basically went through and have these items saved on my internet browser, so that on Friday I can check in, see what the prices are, and decide if they’re worth getting. Once I’ve done this, I’m DONE! I am not going to be enticed by the emails that come through late in the day telling me it’s my last chance, and I’m not going to spend hours browsing different sites trying to determine if I want anything else (which I sadly have done in years past). This will do a few things: it will be good for my bank account (which hurts more often than not due to now living in NYC!), it will be good for sanity, and it will be good for curtailing my consumption which can overall help to eliminate future waste. If you’re familiar with the brand Cuyana, their slogan is “Fewer Better Things”. This is my motto for Black Friday, and the holiday gifting season this year!

Now, to do a total 180 on you all, I am also sharing the details on this week’s look below! If you happen to have cozy sweaters, fun slip skirts, investment worthy black boots, or fine gold jewelry on your must have lists for the holiday season, then feel free to check out the ‘Shop This Look’ section below. All of the items I am wearing are on sale!

And, the last note I’ll leave you all with if you are trying to be more conscientious with where you’re money is going (especially on this major shopping weekend we have coming up), remember that this Saturday is Small Business Saturday! Show some love (and your money) to your favorite small businesses. They appreciate your support way more than the Targets of the world! Some of my favorite small businesses that you can shop are Puck & Abby, Frances Austen, For Now, deWolfe, Noted Candles, and Rent Best Dressed!
