Keep It Casual

Keep It Casual

As some of you may already know, I work in corporate America. I do not have the luxury of being able to wear whatever I want into the office, so I love when I get to dress down outside of work. Don't get me wrong...I do love any excuse to dress up. After all, my blog is named Six Feet In Heels. However, every now and then you just have to keep it casual...

Just because I choose to dress down from time to time does not mean that I cannot still be put together. It is so easy nowadays for people to throw on gym clothes, pretend they are following the athleisure trend, and walk out the door. While this may be comfortable, do you really feel like your best self when wearing your sweats out in public? I do not know about you, but I certainly do not fall into that category. There are plenty of ways to be comfortable, casual, and put together at the same time, all while putting in minimal effort. Take the outfit I am wearing in this post for instance. I was ready in two minutes flat. Just threw on a pair of shorts, a long sleeve tee, added a neck scarf for a twist, slipped on my sandals and I was ready to take on the day.

The key is to have comfortable pieces that still look cute. Building a wardrobe with good basics is essential to be able to do this. I know that this can seem like a daunting task to some, but it is easier and more affordable than you might think. The most expensive part of this outfit are my sunglasses. Everything else I am wearing was purchased at $30 or lower! I'll let you all in on a little secret of mine...one of my favorite places to buy basic wardrobe essentials that are extremely affordable is Old Navy. You may think of it as the store where you bought your American flag tanks while growing up, but Old Navy has seriously stepped up its game, in my opinion. Seriously...go check out what they have to offer!!

Fun Fact:

I wore this exact outfit to the RueLaLa x Cotton pop-up shop on Newbury Street in Boston. While there I was able to meet one of my blogger idols, Damsel In Dior!! She was the absolute sweetest and of course her outfit did not disappoint (I mean, check out those Tory Burch slingbacks!). She also complimented my outfit, and we may or may not both have the striped shirt I am wearing from Old Navy...fangirl moment over :) :) :)
