Desk to Dinner

Working full time in finance, I am very far from the realm of fashion. Since I have be dressed professionally in the office, I am limited to the fashion risks I am able to take. However, that doesn't mean I can't do my best to be stylish. I am always on the hunt for transitional pieces to incorporate into my work wardrobe, but that can also be worn outside of the office. It has taken some time, and I am by no means done, but I have been building a wardrobe of basics as a way to best accomplish transitional dressing.

Why a focus on transitional dressing? Well, being that I am only 25, I often have plans right after work. Whether I am going to dinner, a show, or grabbing drinks at a rooftop bar, the last thing I want to be wearing is a full suit. Another thing I don't want to be doing....lugging half my closet with me on my commute, just to have something to change into. After a few years, I don't have it completely figured out, but I have learned the easiest thing to do is swap out some accessories to take my look from the corner office (more like cubicle, but I'll get there someday!) to cocktails.

Check out below for one of my takes on transitional desk to dinner dressing! Also, note the location of the pictures. Our shoot location was in Lowers Mills, at an old mill that was turned into a small apartment complex. It is one of my favorite places to grab an ice cream and walk around when it is nice out! I recommend anyone else do the same if they find themselves in the neighborhood....it is so cute over there!

Headed to the OFfice

For this office look, I wore a pair of wide leg, cropped dress pants with a silk shell and pumps. In order to appropriate, I threw on an oversized scarf. This is as much for appropriateness as it is for my body temperature. I am always freezing, especially in the office! Everything I am wearing here is from J Crew. I love their pieces for work, and have found that they fit very well into my need for transitional dressing. Below I have included links to everything, as well as some similar items!

Cocktails are calling...

For my after-work look, I switched out my pumps and oversized scarf for a skinny scarf (love this trend!) and a fun pair of heels. This is a very easy thing that anyone can do to take their look from office appropriate to cocktail ready. The shoes and scarf that I swapped out I have had for a very long time, but click below other fun options!
